Introducing the CPiF App!

The Creative People in Florence App is available now! Free to download from the App Store or Google Play, the App offers access to a selection of local artisans and designers. You can use it to map the route to their workshop or you can browse their online profiles and shop online.

Since early Fall 2019, Creative People in Florence has been working on a new and exciting project to help promote the incredibly talented community of contemporary artisans, designers, and artists in our city. 

We had plans to launch the project the first week of April but of course, as has been the case for many of us we were forced to put things on hold. However, it turns out that in the end, that was a good thing! It has allowed us to rethink the idea and find new ways of adapting the project to our current situation which, we also believe will continue to benefit our community even after this is all behind us. 

As some of you may remember, a couple of years ago, we created a map of Florence featuring some great spaces to help you find unique products that are truly made in Florence. We have now decided to take this idea one step further and make it even easier for visitors and locals alike to access handcrafted products and to shop small and shop local. 

This is where we introduce you to Creative People in Florence: The App! When we began the project, our idea was to move the map into a mobile app format to make it easier to navigate these spaces through the use of an integrated map that shows the walking route from your current location to your destination. We divided the spaces by category and search terms to help you find exactly what you are looking for. 

Once we were put into lockdown however, we began to realize that many of the spaces on our list would now need more than just foot traffic to keep going. We also discovered many great small businesses in our city that sell their products exclusively online. For this reason, we have decided to integrate a new feature within the app that will allow the user not only to shop in person but also online giving the user access to Florence and its handmade products from anywhere in the world. 

This is the first app of its kind in Florence and we can’t wait to give you access to it. There are many apps that exist to help you navigate cities, or help you find great restaurants but none that focus exclusively on small local businesses and connect you with the maker or designer behind them. The Creative People in Florence app will give you access to hundreds of unique products that you can’t find anywhere else in the world. 

As the founders of CPiF, we do not work as a middle person between you and the designers, nor do we take a commission from their sales, instead, you will be in direct contact with them. purchasing their products directly through their website or in their store. As always, our goal is to promote the many talented people creating high-quality products from the heart. 

Of course, this is a big project and it does not come without its expenses. Our goal is to keep costs as low as possible for our featured artisans, especially during these uncertain times, but still be able to compensate the independent app developer who has dedicated his time to making this happen.

We are also working in conjunction with him to bring you great content and promote our beautiful city while also connecting to and researching the right channels for marketing and publicizing the project once it’s complete. 

Search online shops in several categories, browse through images and descriptions. Tap the shop you like and go straight to their online shop!

This is where we need your help!  If you would like to be part of getting this new and exciting project off the ground and help the world discover the artisans of Florence, there are several ways you can participate. 

If you are a local contemporary artist, designer or artisan creating original products that are hand crafted in Florence and have a shop in the city or online, please get in touch and let us know who you are and what you do. 

If you would like to become an official member of Creative People in Florence to help support this project, you can do that here. All membership fees will go directly towards app development and advertising costs. 

If you would like to make a one-time donation to the project in any Euro amount you would like, you can do that through our Paypal donation button here. 

If you are a local business that is not necessarily selling a product but would like to offer your services or advertise your business, we have a space in the app and on our website dedicated to you as well. You can become a featured member for 3 months, 6 months, or one year. Please feel free to get in touch for more details regarding this category.
