salotto_uno is a gathering of artists, designers and creative thinkers at numeroventi, a new concept space in Florence hosting artist residencies, exhibitions and events. The theme for the first edition of the of the project, developed in collaboration with Creative People in Florence, is living/room, which invites us to reflect on this space, the living room, the salotto. Drawing on the conceptual and physical role of the room itself within the home, salotto_uno also considers its function as place of exchange between artists and thinkers, the Salotto, the Salon.
salotto_uno also looks at the role of numeroventi within the context of its surrounding neighborhood and the city of Florence, asking how we can extend the intimate, familiar and respectful use of our personal spaces into public spaces, as if they were an extension of our living room, a space to be lived, a place for exchange.
salotto_uno will happen in two phases:
>>>JUNE 19: 10:30-7pm A one-day MICRO-RESIDENCY invites a selected group of participants from the fields of art and design to develop a series of works using digital media and projection mapping to engage with the spaces of numeroventi, a new salotto in Florence hosting artist residencies, exhibitions and events. Participants will learn basic video and projection mapping techniques (if they are not already familiar with them), working under the guidance of David Hartono and with the other participants. Video works will be mapped onto the spaces of numeroventi and projected during the inauguration of the project on June 19.
The focus of the micro-residency is living/room, which calls into question the role of this space, and its potential conceptual and physical extension.

There is no fee for the micro-residency.
Participants must bring their own computer.

A one-night projection event featuring the works realized in the micro-residency as well as all the works submitted to the OPEN CALL. To attend the event you must submit a gif to the open call.

You are invited to submit a gif that investigates the concept of living/room.
All interpretations are welcome. Unexpected solutions are appreciated.

What is a living room? A room for living? A room that is alive?
Where does the living room begin and end?
What do you do in your living room?
Can our living room extend into public spaces?
All submitted gifs will be projected at salotto_uno at numeroventi on June 19 from 8:30 pm-midnight. To attend the event you must submit a gif related to the theme living/room by JUNE 10. The open call is open to everyone.

OPEN CALL salotto_uno : living/room
Salotto_uno è un gathering di artisti, designers, e creativi al numeroventi, un nuovo concept space a Firenze che ospita residenze d’artista, mostre ed eventi. Il tema della prima edizione sarà “living/room”, che ci invita a riflettere su questo ambiente, il salotto. Considerando il ruolo sia fisico che concettuale di questo spazio all’interno della casa, “salotto_uno” esamina anche la sua funzione come luogo di scambio fra artisti e filosofi nella tradizione del salotto letterario o artistico.
salotto_uno considera anche il ruolo di numeroventi nel contesto del suo quartiere e della città di Firenze, chiedendo come si potrebbe ampliare l’uso familiare e rispettoso di questo spazio vissuto negli spazi pubblici, come se fossero estensioni del proprio salotto, spazi per vivere, luoghi di scambio.
salotto_uno si svolge in due fasi:
>>>19 GIUGNO: 10:30-19 – La MICRO-RESIDENZA di otto ore invita un gruppo nove di partecipanti selezionati dai settori di arte e design per sviluppare una serie di lavori di digital media e projection mapping che interagiscono con gli spazi di numeroventi, un nuovo salotto a Firenze che ospita residenze d’artista, mostre e eventi. I partecipanti impareranno le basi di digital video e projection mapping se non le sanno ancora, lavorando con l’assistenza di David Hartono e in collaborazione con gli altri partecipanti. I lavori verranno “mappati” sugli spazi di numeroventi e proiettati durante l’inaugurazione del progetto il 19 Giugno.
Il tema della micro-residenza è living/room, che indaga il ruolo di questo spazio e la sua estensione sia concettuale che fisica.

Per una notte sola i lavori realizzati durante la micro-residenza verranno proiettati insieme a tutti i gifs mandati attraverso un OPEN CALL. Per partecipare all’inaugurazione è obbligatorio mandare un gif sul tema del living/room entro il 10 giugno.
