SPARK! is the Summer design event curated by Creative People in Florence. We look forward to showing off our new space in Via dei Serragli 58R with a carefully selected collection of finely crafted artisan and design products including ceramics, fashion, jewelry, and home decor, all made in Florence.
Elegant, sophisticated, ornate, and opulent are some of the adjectives that come to mind when describing the work of the artists and designers presenting their pieces. ANNA ROSE
Anna Rose is an artist and educator who has lived and worked in Florence, Italy since 2004.
Across video, installation and photography, her work draws on the seemingly commonplace rituals and objects of daily life, particularly those that relate to the things we wear, eat and the spaces we share. In her most recent work, Anna’s interest in textiles and fiber arts has developed into an exploration of tufting and punch needling. At Scintilla she will be sharing a selection of small rugs for both home decor and daily use.






KIRSTIE MATHIESON
Kirstie Marie Mathieson of Little Acorns Pottery. Is a studio potter from Scotland who makes small, ceramic objects from stoneware clay.
She is inspired by the colors and textures of the natural world. Her pieces are unique, embedded with their own character – just like us…….
Her passion for pottery is connected to the natural environment, she grew up in the North of Scotland and the wild, dramatic, rugged seascapes alongside the soft hues of the Tuscan countryside are a huge inspiration. Her artistic vision is to reflect what that connection means to her by creating small, individual pieces that can be used for everyday rituals. Pieces that one can build a rapport with and that evoke a sentiment when used.







SARA AMRHEIN
Sara Amrhein is an American artist who relocated to Florence, Italy to soak up the secrets of Florentine craftsmanship. Inspired by fresco painting, historical dress, and architectural adornment, her pieces envelop the lavish eras of the Renaissance and Baroque periods when Florence was the epitome of grandeur and splendor. Each piece is meticulously handcrafted emulating royal vibes in every detail, a true labor of love and a testament to her passion for quality and craftsmanship honed over years of dedication to her craft. The primary material in Sara’s work is polymer clay. She became fascinated with the material over 15 years ago and is still discovering its seemingly endless possibilities.






ATELIER TERRE
Atelier Terre was founded in Florence by Philip Kron Morelli and Arianne Palla. Philip and Arianne trained as conservator-restorers at the school of the Opificio delle Pietre Dure, the Florentine institution that holds the legacy of the of ancient stone marquetry manufactory established by the Medici family in 1588. Here they were introduced to the craft of commesso di pietre dure, and inspired to strive towards reinterpreting its traditional rules to meet contemporary aesthetics. At Atelier Terre they explore the creative potential of this technique, playing with colours, volumes and transparencies that transcend the boundaries of traditional stone working.
