Advancing Women Artists (AWA) is looking for Volunteers to help with a great project!
“co-sponsored by Syracuse University and the U.S. Consulate in Florence, ‘Women Artists and Wikipedia’ is an editing marathon where volunteers are invited to generate Wiki entries to fill in Wikipedia’s gaps regarding content on women artists. So many important women artists are still missing from the world’s most important on-line encyclopedia!! The event will be held on March 7 from 2 to 5pm at Syracuse University in Piazza Savonarola. We are also hoping to have many volunteers helping from home. In addition to the invitation attached, you’ll find guidelines and suggestions in hopes you’ll be able to join us!”
If you don’t already know about AWA, you should! They do fantastic work to promote women in the arts and raise funding to restore many works of art here in Florence by women throughout history. Many of which have simply been forgotten and left unprotected in the storage of the cities museums.
