Tiche Synergia: Artifactural by Naomi Muirhead

We are pleased to announce the opening of Artifactural, an installation by Naomi Muirhead of art925 at Tiche Synergia. The exhibition opens on June 5 and will be on view through June 19.

Artifactural is an installation of vintage objects (wooden rulers, tin boxes, clock faces, antique books) from the collection of the artist that have been composed into a presentation of elements that inspire the jewelry pieces created by Naomi Muirhead (art925). The research and collection of these objects inform the design of each piece which is based on the object itself, or a fragment of it, transformed into a wearable object. Some of the collection on display might potentially be used in future jewelry pieces, extracted from their original purpose; other objects might remain as visual inspiration. As in each piece of art925 jewelry, the combination, coordination, composition, and collaboration between old and new forms a current throughout the installation. Less about the traditional craft of jewelry making, Naomi’s work proposes intimate wearable objects with a narrative to tell or a thought to provoke, things that might jog a memory or conjure place.

Tiche Synergia is an ongoing series of exhibitions in collaboration with the fashion brand Tiche. This multi-faceted project highlights all of our favorite things: collaboration, contemporary craftsmanship, and design in Florence. The spacious new Tiche atelier in via San Zanobi hosts a series of Florence-based artisans and designers, who present site-specific installations using the materials and objects of their craft, alongside a special selection of works and products in conversation with the recent collections and mission of Tiche.

The Greek goddess of luck and chance, Tiche is also the protectress of cities and fortune, which perhaps holds a new resonance in the changing and often-unpredictable landscape of our current times. Emphasizing the opportunity for growth, experimentation and renewal, the project’s title, Tiche Synergia in fact reflects the heart of our aims at CPiF: to spark new ideas and connections between the artisans and designers of the city, and to envision the future of the city as one of innovation and collaboration. It’s time to give shape to a new, contemporary and thriving Florence.

Tiche Synergia invites the artisans and designers to reframe the objects of their craft as works of art, looking beyond their value as commercial products, offering a space for experimentation, research and innovation.

Tiche Synergia. e Creative People in Florence sono lieti di presentare Artifactural, un’installazione di Naomi Muirhead di art925. L’inaugurazione si terrà il 5 Giugno presso Tiche Atelier.

Artifactural è un’installazione site-specific di oggetti vintage (righelli in legno, scatole di latta, quadranti di orologi, libri antichi) che provenendo dalla collezione dell’artista, fungono da ispirazione per tutti i gioielli art925. Ognuno di questi nasce da un processo di ricerca e raccolta che porta alla trasformazione del materiale trovato in nuovi oggetti indossabili. Può succedere però che elementi presenti in mostra diventino futuri lavori di gioielleria, e anche che altri rimangano d’ispirazione visiva per l’artista. La mostra Artifactural, con le opere di art 925, lascia spazio al nuovo e all’antico in un confronto serrato fra combinazione e coordinamento, composizione e collaborazione. L’artista quindi, meno centrato sulle tradizioni di oreficeria, propone oggetti da indossare, intimi, che raccontano e provocano e che suscitano ricordi di altri momenti e altri luoghi.

Tiche Synergia è un nuovo progetto poliedrico a sostegno dell’artigianato, e design, a Firenze. Il nuovo atelier del brand Tiche ospiterà una serie di artigiani fiorentini che presenteranno installazioni site-specific, utilizzando i materiali del proprio mestiere. Ogni installazione sarà accompagnata da una selezione di prodotti in vendita, scelta apposta per creare un dialogo con la linea Tiche. In aggiunta a ciò, il brand ospiterà delle mostre fotografiche e una serie di immagini ispirate alle installazioni degli artigiani ma anche a lavori più recenti, in sintonia con la visione di Tiche Synergia. 

Tiche Synergia invita gli artigiani e i designer a ri-immaginare gli oggetti del mestiere come opere d’arte oltre al loro valore commerciale, offrendo a tutti uno spazio per la sperimentazione, la ricerca e l’innovazione.  

La dea greca della Fortuna, Tiche, è anche protettrice delle città, e questo risuona in modo nuovo, soprattutto in questo periodo di cambiamento e incertezza. Enfatizzando questa opportunità di crescita, ma anche di sperimentazione e rinnovamento, il titolo del progetto Tiche Synergia rivela i suoi obiettivi principali: creare la scintilla per la nascita di nuove idee e nuovi rapporti fra gli artigiani e i designer della città, e immaginare la Firenze del futuro come un luogo di innovazione e collaborazione.
